Quality Assurance / Supplier Quality Engineer

Overview

The dual role position will be responsible for the execution and maintenance of QA engineering aspects of quality management systems and collaborating closely with Manufacturing, Product/Market Management, Engineering, Sourcing, and Supply Chain to manage supplier risk and monitor, correct, and prevent supplier performance issues.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Develop inspection methods to analyze product quality
  • Ensure products adhere to company and industry quality standards
  • Develops, implements and monitors elements of the Quality Management System to ensure robust required regulatory compliance
  • Provides training and assistance required to enhance the Quality Management System
  • Assist in the identification and compliance with domestic, international and customer quality standards and specifications
  • Work with purchasing team on inspection of raw materials received from vendors
  • Review and assess material, product non conformity quality issues and collaboratively work with other functional team members regarding root cause and corrective actions
  • Document results and findings after inspections are carried out
  • Improve product quality by making recommendations for change
  • Serves as a subject matter expert and guide for customer conducted quality system audits
  • Schedule, and at times conduct internal and external quality audits
  • Drafts and presents a variety of written and or statistical eg SPC, financial, procedural regularly scheduled and/or ad hoc reports and presentations
  • Provides data analysis in support of respective quality KPI;s and 3-up continual improvement structural process
  • Work together with relevant teams and departments to improve products
  • Participate in daily MRB meetings as MRB member
  • Completion of all related or un-related duties assigned by management
  • Complete and multi-task several projects, meeting mutually agreed and achievable deadlines

Requirements & Skills 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical disciplines preferred
  • Extensive experience in a quality assurance environment required
  • Demonstrated ability to create and update standard operating procedures
  • Experience in quality management systems including root cause analysis, metrology, SPC/SQC, and continuous improvement
  • IPC-610 knowledge and/or certification preferred
  • J-STD-001 a plus
  • Green Belt a plus
  • FMEA experience
  • SPC experience
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Mini tab, statistical software experience a plus

Technical Document Specialist

Overview

The Technical Document Specialist is tasked with the responsibility to create all Production related technical documentation. This Technical Document Specialist will be expected to work closely with both Production Engineering and Process Engineering to support releasing new programs to Production as well as maintaining and updating current programs. The tasks related to the release of new programs shall include creating Manufacturing/Assembly work instructions and entering inspection instructions. The actively updating documentation to ensure the information is up to date and content issues are addressed as they arise.

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Provide documentation support during new product development and product changes, including document creation and updates, and transition to the manufacturing floor. Examples:
    • Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
    • Manufacturing Work Order Engineering Masters.
  • Ensure documented information is correct
    • Assembly instructions
    • Test procedures
    • BOM matches work order, and visual aids
  • Develop compelling written content for standard and products for use across the manufacturing process.
  • Liaise with subject-matter experts of PCB assembly to understand our technology and product in order to create materials specifications
  • Work closely with the various engineering teams to develop assembly specifications for released parts towards production
  • Be responsible for EDI’s materials database and library for all Engineering and Manufacturing teams toward Bill of Materials
  • Assist in the configuration/maintenance of Manufacturing Execution System, Visual Aids, Labels/Printers/Scanners, Part/Device Setups, Master Data, and all other applicable customer/product information as required.
  • Process documentation and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Analyze all new Bill of Materials (BOM) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO) for completeness. Resolve discrepancies through communication with Engineering and all functional departments within the work cell.
  • Verify necessary drawings are attached to each ECO and revisions of drawings match the revisions on the BOM.
  • Generate the necessary internal documentation (e.g. cover sheets, change summary, BOM comparison worksheets, etc.) to process Engineering documentation accurately and in accordance with internal operating procedures.
  • Initiate an ECN Form detailing changes (e.g. adds, deletes, changes).  Coordinate with the Planning and Purchasing groups to ensure that all effectivity dates, revision status, BOM changes, rework instructions are correct. Communicate changes to team and obtain all required signatures.
  • Maintain historical documents/records in accordance with internal document/record retention procedures (e.g. end-of-life BOMs, drawings, set-up sheets, visual aids, process flow charts, etc.)
  • Partner with applicable stakeholders to help develop and/or update the DPP
  • Communicate inaccuracies to Engineering and obtain written approval for any subsequent changes.  Elevate to the Doc Control Manager, when necessary, to resolve issues.
  • Keep an accurate and up to date revision status sheet.
  • Complete and multi-task several projects, meeting mutually agreed and achievable deadlines

Senior Hardware Engineer

Overview

Eberle Design Inc. (EDI) is looking for a Hardware Design Engineer to join its product development group. EDI has designed and manufactured reliable, high quality products for the transportation and traffic control industry for over 40 years, and is the dominant market leader in this segment. Because of rapid growth, an opening for an experienced hardware engineer is available.

This multi-disciplined position is focused on new product development requiring hardware design skills, some analog skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability and interest to follow a project through, from inception to production and support.

The ideal candidate can switch between basic, intermediate and advanced hardware design/debug. The ideal candidate will also have a successful track record in product design utilizing IPC and DFMA design guidelines. Strong communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills are very desirable. Some interaction with customers and product support may be required.

Job Responsibilities

● Design and develop hardware for a wide range of products in the traffic control market.

● Perform multi-layer circuit design ranging from digital microprocessor systems to switch-mode power supplies.

● Perform schematic capture, circuit design, PCB layout, board debug and logic analyzers.

● Take projects through the entire product lifecycle management process (PLM), from inception, to high level design, to final production release, service and post-mortem analysis.

● Perform IC and passive component qualification.

● Be comfortable interacting with customers and product support, if needed.

Requirements and Skills

● B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.

● Minimum 7 years’ experience in hardware design and debugging.

● Experience working with microcontrollers in performing board level debugging.

● Working understanding of hardware design using DFMA and IPC design guidelines.

● Must be comfortable testing products using common lab instruments (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.).

● Must be able to read and maintain existing designs with ease.

Job Description

The Through Hole Insertion Assembler will be responsible for installing Through Hole components into Printed Circuit Boards. Responsibilities may include de-drossing the solder pot and minor maintenance, slide line setup, component prep, assist Process Engineering, may load machine programs. Will require the ability to read and write long complex part numbers to match them against the BOM (Build of Material). The ability to read and understand Visual Aids and Work Instructions.

Job Description

Summary

Operates Yamaha YSM20 pick and place equipment, YCP10 screen printer, and BTU reflow oven. The Operator will be responsible for feeder changes, daily, weekly, and monthly machine maintenance, program validation, validation of feeder setups and kitted parts. The candidate must also monitor the output of the machines to ensure quality. Responsible for Quality assurance and Documentation. Operator III will work closely with Quality Control to provide instant feedback on any machine placement / solder issues.

This position reports to the Operations Supervisor.

Job Duties

  • Set up and operate SMT machines per job order.
  • Feeder setup, feeder changes, and validation of components.
  • Ability to identify component types i.e. SOIC, VSOP, Resistor, capacitors, polarity, etc;
  • Attention to detail regarding part numbers, and numbering in general.
  • Monitor product through entire SMT process to meet all Quality standards.
  • Operate and maintain Yamaha YCP10 screen printer; maintain solder paste levels, load programs, ensure stencils are not damaged and correct stencil being used.
  • Operate Yamaha YSM20 machine:
    • Although rare, monitor any machine rejections and report to Process Engineering
    • Identify any machine problems as they relate to maintenance, damage, software
    • May make minor program changes – pick height, pick position, feeder relocation
    • Ensure part orientation (polarity) is correct for presentation to the machine. This will require knowledge of Tray and Tape & Reel Part orientation.
    • Ability to trouble shoot SMT feeder problems regarding pitch, cover tape, and polarity in the pocket.
  • Load correct reflow oven recipe based on Work Order.
  • Visual inspection of products and components per print / visual aid.
  • Assists other SMT associates with trouble shooting problems.
  • Train new operators on how to operate the assigned equipment and tools.
  • Ability to operate selective solder equipment is a plus.
